Final Documents and the Supervisor/Superintendent Internship Summative Evaluation

All of my final documents are posted on my wiki at http://ricksadventuresineducation.wikispaces.com.  On the Internship page, I have a copy of my final plan, a summary of the activities, and a summary report containing the total hours logged.  On my Professional Vita page, I have my updated, most current vita.  Finally, on the Comprehensive Final Report page, I have a link to Parts A-E of the final report.  My blog at http://ricksadventuresineducation.blogspot.com contains various reflections and links to my wiki.
Reflection - I sat down this week with my site supervisor, Ms. Vicki Jones to discuss my Summative Evaluation.  Although she chose not to share the actual evaluation with me, she did assure me that she would have it faxed to the school by the end of the week.  We talked about the year and some of the various internship activities.  One of the topics we discussed thoroughly was the difference between the principalship and the superintendency.  As a campus principal, you make decisions that affect your campus, but not necessarily the district.  As a superintendent, all decisions must be made with the knowledge that all will be affected.  Your perspective needs to be more global and that is one of the biggest adjustments I will have to make.   In discussing the SISE, I admitted that I am still somewhat intimidated by finance and budgeting.  Ms. Jones encouraged me and shared that many of these things will only make sense when you get the hands-on experience.  Overall, I do believe that I have learned a great deal this past year and I have no doubt that with some good hands-on experience, I might even learn more.  Lots and lots more.

  1. I agree and understand the confusion and differences on the principalship and superintendency. It is hard to shift perspectives.
